About Us
Join us in the joy of singing together!
Our Story
Aurora was launched in September 2006 and was formally created through a love of close harmony singing by Dawn Kelly (Founder and Operational Director).
Aurora is a sisterhood that isn’t held together by blood, but by a love of singing. We are a family bonded over the care that we put into our music. Aurora is much more than a group of women who meet to practice songs each week; it’s a family where sisters meet to sing and support each other, through disappointments, sadness, happiness and achievements.
Aurora is always looking to recruit new members, there’s no need to read music, as songs can be learned by ear, listening to mp3 audio files. So if you or anyone you know is interested in joining our singing sisterhood, please feel free to make contact. You will quickly feel at ease by the friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome you will receive.
Mission Statement
To enrich the lives of its members by providing a non-threatening, friendly environment, a place where members meet each week, to share the pleasure of singing. Members of Aurora benefit by learning and developing skills in singing and performance, which may lead to an increase in confidence and self esteem.
To give something back to the local community by providing a safe place for women to meet and by giving performances throughout the year to raise funds for charities and other good causes.

In March 2020 with COVID lockdown restrictions, we became unable to meet face-to-face. Like many other choirs, our meetings had to be held virtually. However, during that time, with the help of Michael Woodborough, we managed to create a few virtual performances which you can view below.
In May 2021, we began to meet outdoors and we were overjoyed to once again meet face to face for ’normal’ practice in our rehearsal venue.
